Big question, simple explanation

Following up on a previous post explaining the reasons and formats for these 'concept videos', a few more will follow. In this particular video I reflect over the concept of political communication. Where does the concept come from? How relevant are classical theories and models today? Why ought students of social science today to know something about the origins of political communication as an academic theme and a scholarly field? To provide an example of whyt we should ask, one might consider the book in the small image to the left here: Aaron Davis' fine book on political communication for "crisis times". The question is this: When was political communication not referring to crisis, and what is different in contemporary political communication compared to other eras? Issues such as these come up in the video.

The video traces political communication as a scholarly field through various academic disciplines, laying the foundation for other video entries to come, for instance on the thoughts behind a concept like 'the 4th estate', or the concept of 'media effects' studies. It is a short video of less than 15 minutes, with the limitations inherent to that fact. it was filmed with the intention of putting up something of relevance not in one particular university course but rather in a manner applicable and relevant in a more generic sense. You are welcome to send me feedback on how this might be done better or differently.
